The following coloring system will be utilized by the WCFPD. The current Burn Ban status will be posted on our homepage http://grantcityfire.googlepages.com/; on our automated messaging system (660)564-3344, and posted in local papers when changes are made (time permitting).
Colors and Definitions:
GREEN: There are no current burn bans in effect within the WCFPD jurisdiction. Use caution when burning.
AMBER: Moisture content within the WCFPD jurisdiction is below average, please dial (660) 564-2122 a minimum of 2 hours prior to burning. Do not burn if wind is excess of 10mph. Ensure that you have a source of water and rakes on hand to control/suppress fire. Ensure you have immediate access to communication device to notify fire department if needed.
RED: Moisture content within the WCFPD jurisdiction is dangerously low. NO BURNING IS ALLOWED until conditions improve and the "Red" alert is removed by the WCFPD. This notification is punitive and monetary fines may be imposed for failure to adhere.
